It is all the rage nowadays, minimalism. I feel you can not look at tv or check out a magazine where it is not discussed. But what does it actually mean to me?
Looking at it, I feel that you think about and experiment with what it is you really need, based on your unique situation, goals, and what you find essential. I see so many people throwing numbers and pictures. Look at my empty house, look I only have 25 items and I do not wear underwear anymore to make it happen. Sorry guys, I have images now and I do not want to do those things to feel good. But what I did do was an experiment with what is important to me.
I want to feel a debt-free life, that I do not have to work to earn for my wonderful house, nice clothes, supercar, fancy dinners, long-distance travels, gold-infused creams to stay young, or whatever else we can have, own, or acquire. So, we packed our bags with what we felt was our most important stuff, sold our lovely house in the city close to work, and moved to an inniminnie (aka very small) house in the middle of the countryside. In a region where there is no work, another language, and far from family and friends. Or actually, this is where the fun begins, I say far away, but what is a – hour’s drive? Another language, something you can learn (and what thousands of people do every year while moving), a small house well it is not a tiny house, we still have about 60m2, and so on.
If you know what you want (in our case green and fields around), and you are willing to experiment and pay the price (longer travel, getting up earlier in the morning, sometimes sitting too close to each other, etc, etc), try to live your dreams. The only person stopping you… is you
