Do you ever have that feeling that you are truly seen and that it is appreciated that you are there?
Well, I don’t know about you, but it is becoming more seldom by the year it seems.
And I can tell you it is not by the lack of trying to find this rare gem.
But every now and then you are amazed, surprised. Someone does something before your mind had even anticipated that this would be a good idea. I will give you the example that made me tick last month.
I was visiting a location and needed to drive a number of hours to get there. Even though living in the country for quite some time and taking traffic into my calculations I was running late. Anxiously I called an hour before the agreed time ahead, to apologize for the delay upfront and find out if my visit was still convenient for my host. The reception was astonishing (wish dear reader is also telling you something about my previous experiences I suppose). The lady answering the phone was pleasant, confirmed my appointment, and told me not to get aggravated because of running late when she heard I was running late. My host would be there still for a few hours and had flexibility in his schedule to receive me whenever I would arrive. It was a pleasant experience in which the person also expressed concern for me and my safety. And she hung up wishing me a safe journey, a lovely meeting, and a good day. Needless to say, I felt relieved, and actually became aware again of the sun shining, the nice surroundings, and the excellent music playing in the background.
My point is, with just a touch of attention for the other person you can make their day better, lighter, brighter. Thank you madame Van Tornhout, it was a pleasure.
