If you know me, you know I am outgoing. And after my marketing and sales study, I actually anticipated that I would land myself a position like that. But at a certain point in my life, I felt my energy was drained entirely, something I did not recognize in myself. Fortunately, I came into contact with the CoreTalents methodology. I was analyzed and it became very clear, I am not a saleswoman. That is to say, I can do it, but it costs me loads of energy.
The best move I made at that moment was forming a tandem with someone else in the marketing department that could sell water to the water company in a heartbeat, so to speak (Eva Davila, I still love you for it).
But now that I am on my own again, I know I should not think “oh people will notice how hard I am working” or how important the project is. This is apparently made worse by the fact that I am a woman (pointed out by In Touch Female Leadership & Career Academy and their books).
Wondering how I approached it? I made a list of questions I prepared to talk about and formulate answers with the entire team. And usually, when we go through the answers, other people will start to get excited. If you notice this, see if they want to become ambassadors for the project, and take them to any kind of meeting to do the talking. I have found that it helps me not lose energy, the project as people feel empowered, the audience as they trust the information more when it is not coming from (project) management and the communication is usually better fitting the audience.
Good luck in trying!
